Welcome to our community
This community is led by Mike Boxall from Newham Community Learning. Mike is Deputy Head at Selwyn Primary School in Newham and has worked as an SLE for Redbridge REP since 2019. Across several boroughs, he leads subject development programmes in Geography, History, PE and Behaviour, while also supporting ITT programs. Alongside this, he is an accredited Team Teach trainer and ELSA practitioner. He aims to support leaders and schools by creating a non-judgemental space in which effective practice can be shared, professional dialogue encouraged and school improvement strengthened.
Who is this suitable for?
History leaders and coordinators (Primary only)
How does it work?
All meetings will be divided into two sections: Subject Leader Focus and Subject Development Focus.
The Leader Focus element will examine the key aspects of leading and maintaining a subject or school improvement area. This will include consideration of the fundamental systems, processes and expectations that should be established, alongside opportunities to share effective practice and approaches between schools.
The Development Focus element will concentrate on a specific area of interest or priority. Participants will engage with relevant research, critically evaluate current practice within their own settings and identify appropriate actions to support further development and improvement within their schools.
What does it involve?
Members of this group will be able to attend three subject leader network meetings, one per term.
Members of this community can access a range of materials to support this group, including access to training videos, articles and other resources
